Network Marketing And The Quality Of Life

Posted on December 5 2009 by Cydne Buckley

In the fall of 2000 My husband and I decided to give Palm Beach, Fl a look to see what it was all about. There was no mystery to Palm Beach. He was hired at small boutique hotel on Coconut Row. I on the other hand was hired as a makeup artist at the Donald’s Maralago Spa. A story for another time.

Missing Jackpot (my Greyhound) was not hard with his beautiful brown eyes. I was in the process of investigating Italian Greyhounds and was talking/networking with a person who rescued this breed. I agreed to see her at the Boynton Beach Mall. She was thew representative of SAD/SAC which meant Save A Dog/Save A Cat. She had left and started talking with another volunteer there. I was telling her about Jackpot and she started to tell me about pointer/greyhound mix. The words were not even out of her mouth and we were at her box. She was a very popular dog and all volunteers were around her cage. As soon as I saw Gabrielle (I named her after a french author Gabrielle Collette). I paid the fee and took her to the car and home. Richard was getting ready for work and heard Gabrielle bark and said “is that you Cyd’ knowing full well it was not.

We returned to Maine and Gabrielle loved it. She seemed to love the snow. So we think somebody took her to Florida and dumped her there. We found out she was on the streets of Florida for a 1 1/2. Three different people took her home, but couldn’t handle her. She was not used to being confined and needed lots of care and patience.

The two animals-Jackpot & Gabrielle-spent a good year together. Jackpot was getting old and passed at the age of- 1/2. We treat our pets like humans and part of the family. We have a cat too. they literally have the run of the house sleeping from bed to couch. We allow them to have fun too. Where we live is a beach town and walked the beach often. With the dogs we were able to meet many people. Jackpot was a very gentle soul and people loved him. Gabby was more afraid of people and she barked a lot given the impression she was trying to protect us. Jackpot never barked. Thankfully the cats and dogs got along just great.

The week before Thanksgiving we had to put Gabri to sleep, so she and Jackpot are together again playing in Doggie Dreamland. When it is time to decide to put your pet to sleep it must be a humane decision. So many people wait too long and they suffer. There is so much love and when they’re a rescue, the love is returned tenfold. It’s selfish to hang on when they have no more quality of life. All our animal-loving friends are encouraging us to go right out and rescue another 4-legged baby and give him/her the best front-row seat in the next act of our aging lives. We want to grow old together.
